Bahrain is a small country with some interesting facts. It is one of the few remaining absolute monarchies on Earth and the third smallest country in Asia, after Singapore and the Maldives.

The history of Bahrain dates back to ancient times. During the days of Mesopotamia, a great state in what is now Iraq, Bahrain served as a crossroads for strategic and trade routes between Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley (India). This civilization is credited with inventing writing over 5,000 years ago. Clay tablets attributed to this state contain the tale of Gilgamesh, which mentions Bahrain, known in those days as Dilmun. The age of this country is significant.
Manama, thanks to the oil boom in the mid-20th century, surprises tourists from their first steps on this blessed land. Skyscrapers tower into the sky in unique shapes, camels are parked next to Rolls-Royces, and oriental markets offer gold, pearls, and spices. Bahrain is far from boring and has plenty to offer.
THE BARBAR TEMPLE IS A FAMOUS MONUMENT LOCATED IN BARBAR, A COMPLEX OF THREE RELIGIOUS BUILDINGS DATING FROM 3000-2000 BC:
Barbar Temple – a famous monument located in the locality of Barbar, is a complex of three religious buildings dating from 3000-2000 BC and located one above the other.
Seyadi House – located in the town of Muharak, built in 1905, is a fine example of local architecture and traditions.
Royal Graves Complex – located near the village of A’ali and is a grand complex of burial mounds.
Camel Farm: at this farm, camels live in an open space. There are more than 400 camels here.
PEARL OF THE EAST
In fact, even in the pre-petroleum era, Bahrain did not need much of anything, as quality pearls were mined here. The secret treasures of Bahrain’s seas were discovered to the European public by one of the three Cartier brothers ⸺ Jacques Cartier.
Today, the country’s authorities, who previously forbade outsiders to mine pearls in its waters, have made concessions. It is now allowed to raise no more than sixty oyster shells from the seabed. Pearls are still harvested from boats in Bahrain, and you can go on a pearl journey with the pearl fishermen.
Legendary Bahrain was known as the Garden of Eden and I am sure ⸺ will be again! Almost the entire coast of the archipelago ⸺ is one giant beach, with luxury resort complexes. Modern Bahrain is as colorful as an Arabian shawl, as noisy as an oriental bazaar, as hot as desert sand and as joyful as birds of paradise!
